The dream is to unite We the People and go on to save the best constitutional republic on Earth! I ran for U.S. Congress in 2022 on the Republican ticket for North Carolina’s 02 district, but lost in the primary. I was hoping that my message of uniting minorities with patriotically minded constitutional conservatives would resonate with Americans of all backgrounds. If you haven't noticed, the left is united in taking down morals, families, and promoting cultural decay in our country and around the world, while We the People are busy fighting each other over race, color, creed, and religion. Is it too much to ask to join forces on what unites us rather than focus on what divides us?
I worked very hard during my 2022 campaign, driving my famous truck, knocking on doors and trying to connect with We the People. I could sense during my interaction with some voters that I could lose. On an average, I had at least one incident per day where someone put me down for who I was. A minority in every sense- color: brown, faith: Hindu, name: foreign. The put-downs and the shaming for who I was became a regular event. As much as voters liked my 14+ years of TEA party political activism to defend the U.S. Constitution, my America first platform and my out-of-the-box solutions to handle political issues, their distrust of me mainly arose from the fact that I am not like them.
The long daggers came out from all sides. The anti-Hindu chatter grew louder and became part of the conversation just about everywhere I went. I had to prove my innocence as I was deemed guilty for not being a Christian. Please see a screenshot of my phone (on the right) as evidence of one of the many messages I had received. This is a snapshot of a text my campaign received from a “friend” on Jan. 10, 2022. This is one of the mildest and most direct messages I had received against my faith.
In January of 2022, in the middle of my campaign, I came under attack from politically active Christian groups and individuals who came out against my faith. It was shocking, disheartening, and depressing because as a TEA Party patriot for the last 14 years, I always felt welcomed in the conservative circles. It was so until I decided to run for an elected office. Like Rosa Parks, I was quickly told where my place had to be. I was welcomed in a “supporting role”, but not in a “leadership role.” I guess that my being a minority made a good photo-op to lend credence to the Republican party.
GOP operatives, leaders of the conservative values groups, mom and pop grassroots organizations, donors and the Republican establishment groups continued their veiled attacks until the last days of my campaign. All efforts were to limit exposure and choke off my campaign. It felt like Orwellian hate, where they didn’t necessarily hate me as an individual, but the stereotypical perception they had built about my faith. However, there have been some staunch constitutionalists (many of them Jews and Christians) who stood by me and encouraged me to keep on fighting. My sincere thanks to the almost 9,000+ judiciously pragmatic constitutionalists who voted for me in the primary. It was humbling!
Did my loss in 2022 deter me from pursuing my dream to unite reasonable, peace-loving, patriotic Americans? Absolutely not! It just means that I must work harder than the last time around. I need to explain who I am, where I came from and my plan to save the USA. The world has always had a distorted view of my faith, Hinduism, which was deliberately distorted by the vested interests for obvious reasons. Through my unprecedented pamphlet – In Defense of My Faith – I am trying to set the record straight. I explain the Hindu plight and the root of Orwellian hate against Hindus. It is an easy, commonsense read which I have personally and painstakingly written after my loss in the Republican primary. Maybe, if Americans would look past our accent, not-so-perfect English, the red-dot on our foreheads, and distortions about my faith they have heard for generations - from the biased media and the herders - then, maybe just maybe, they will start seeing Hindus in a better light.
In America, followers of my faith have the highest level of education, income, real-estate ownership, and entrepreneurial spirit. Hindus have also never engaged in terrorist activities, espionage, and pushing any form of ideology on Americans. Hindus have strong moral and family values. The school districts where Hindus reside in greater numbers score better than other districts and our children go on to get jobs in highest paying STEM occupations. Hindus have a non-existent crime rate and the lowest rate of divorce. Such qualitatively magnificent accomplishments of Hindus in America demonstrate the richness of our faith, culture and the deep-rooted values that propagate enviably successful lives. We have achieved these feats thanks to our millennia-old faith, knowledge, discipline, and perseverance in the face of relentless persecution. Shouldn't people think, that they are constantly told about Hinduism as a demonic religion, and yet Hindus seem to be doing so well? Is there a disconnect what the herders propagate vs. reality about Hindus?
Historically, the Democrat party has deceptively oppressed minorities or has been against lifting minorities out of their miserable life situations. The destitution of minorities gives Democrats the power and control over the people. Democrats founded the KKK, fought against the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments, and instituted Jim Crow laws. Democrats were also against the 19th Amendment and tried to filibuster the Civil Rights Act in the 1960s. It was because of these historical events that I joined the Republican party, only to find myself in a fight of my own. This should also explain why Republicans have a hard time attracting minorities in their "big tent" through their "small door."
I am a "stick-to-the-issues" guy and a constitutionalist. It is indeed with profound sadness that I have brought up my faith to be discussed publicly. I never thought I would have to explain my faith in a first-world, highly educated country like America. And that too, to the Republicans who talk about believing in MERITOCRACY. I know it is not easy to fight the established entrenched beliefs and the Orwellian hate, but I do hope to change many hearts and minds. I am not seeking victim-hood, but fighting for a constitutionally granted, rightful seat at the table. Article XI Section 3 of the US Constitution clearly states, “…. but no religious Test shall ever be required as a qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.” The stubborn constitutionalist in me vows to bend this great nation towards its constitutional founding and not let it become a balkanized States of America.
I request you to give me a chance to unify and build alliances among people of all races, religions, colors, and creeds who believe in common morals, nuclear family values, and just laws under one umbrella, the US Constitution. I will put “constitutional consent of the served” in the American equation.
Thank you!
Hope this helps alleviate the Orwellian hate against Hindus.
